The 18-year-old Frankford High School graduate, a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 306th infantry, 101st Airborne Division, enlisted in the Army in February 1968. The specialist four, a rifleman, died in the A Shau Valley near the Laotian border on May 17, 1969. Survivors included his mother, two brothers and two sisters. Sessions was one of at least 11 young men from the Fisbtown-Kensington-Port Richmond neighborhoods to die or be missing in action in Vietnam. All are honored on the Cpl. Charles J. Glenn 3rd Memorial in Fishtown, dedicated in 1967 and one of the first memorials to Vietnam veterans in the U.S.
