The former Philadelphia resident attended high school in West Germany and served in the West German army for three years before joining the U S. Army in 1962. The 32-year-old sergeant first class, a combat bridge specialist, was assigned to Company B of the 39th Engineer Battalion in Vietnam. He died on July 27, 1971. Survivors included his wife.
