Morrison helped his father run a service station after he left Bok Vocational High School. He entered the Marine Corps in March 1964. The 21-year-old private first class, a guard and ammunition carrier, was assigned to Battery A of 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. Morrison died in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam on Jan. 31, 1968, the day after the Viet Cong launched the Tet offensive. In addition to his father, he was survived by his mother and two brothers.
