When “Bob” Koebler entered the Army in June 1969, he asked his father to take care of his sports car. His father agreed after Koehler promised to put any money be saved while in the service toward finishing his college education. The 20-year-old specialist four, a rifle-man, was sent to Vietnam and assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 3rd Battalion, 506th Cavalry, 101st Air-borne Division. Koehier died on April 27. 1970. The 1967 Northeast Catholic High School graduate had attended Temple University and was planning to enroll at St. Joseph's College when he came borne. He was survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.
