Before enlisting in the Marine Corps, Kliderry attended Father Judge and Abraham Lincoln high schools and worked briefly as a postal clerk. He was sent to Vietnam, where the rifleman-grenadier was assigned to Cornpany of the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines. 3rd Marine Division. Kilderry was wounded in Quang Tri Province in late June 1968 during Operation Scotland II, and was evacuated to the hospital ship USS Sanctuary, where he died on July 6~ 1968, one week before his 21st birthday. He was survived by his mother, two brothers and two sisters.
