Kapusta was quiet and sensitive, his mother said, and he had planned to enroll in a drug-store managementtrainee program before he was drafted. Kapusta graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1967 and entered the Army in January 1970. The sergeant, a scout observer assigned to Company E of the 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, died at Chu Lai. Quang Tin Province, Vietnam, on Jan. 12, 1971, three days before his 21st birthday. He was survived by his mother, a brother and a sister.
