The 1960 graduate of Northeast High School organized and was scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 466 at Mediator Lutheran Church on N. 28th Street. He worked as an assistant cable splicer and lineman for Bell of Pennsylvania, and wrote letters to Philadelphia newspapers denouncing people who were not backing U.S. troops in Vietnam. Heniss enlisted in the Marine Rifle Corps in April 1963. The 23-year-old private first class. a field radio operator with Headquarters Company of the 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, died in Chu Lai, Quang Tin Province, Vietnam, on Sept. 7, 1965. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, parents, a brother and sister.
