In 1963, "Don" Glickman graduated from Murrell Dobbins Vocational High School, where was a member of the tennis, gymnastics and soccer teams. Twice be brought home papers for parental permission to enlist, and twice his mother tore them up. Two weeks after his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, and regularly sent home money toward his college education. The 20-year-old private was an assistant gunner, ammunition carrier and clerk with Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, in Vietnam. Glickman was killed in Que Son, Quang Tin Province, on Dec. 10, 1965. He was survived by his parents and a brother.
