Epstine graduated from John Bartram High School, where he was a member of the student and athletic associations. He entered the Army in February 1971, and was assigned to Company C of the 2nd Battalion. 196th Infantry Brigade, in Vietnam. The 20-year-old specialist four, a rifleman, died on April 30, 1972. He was survived by his wife.
