A member of the Army Special Forces, Dwyer volunteered for duty in Vietnam. The 1962 Roman Catholic High School graduate was a squad leader and truck master in Vietnam, where he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 2nd infantry, 1st Infantry Division. Dwyer died on July 1.8, 1966. The 23-year-old specialist five was survived by his mother and three brothers.
