Dorn entered the Marine Corps in March 1968, after working briefly as a food handler in a Philadelphia chicken processing plant. The 19-year-old private first class, an ammunition carrier and mortar man assigned to Company D of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, died in the Station Hospital at Da Nang, Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, on Jan. 19, 1969
