Even as a child, "Beas" Beasley wanted to be a Marine, his mother recalled. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in February .1966. The 19-year-old private first class had recently re-enlisted and was sent to Vietnam, where he was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Beasley died on July 2, 1967, in Quang Tri Province, He was survived by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
