The 21-year-old Marine combat rifleman worked as a dishwasher after graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School. He joined the Marines in April 1965, and was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, in Vietnam. Baker died on March 19. 1967, in Quang Tri Province during Operation Prairie II. The lance corporal was survived by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
