Anderson attended Overbrook High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps in May 1966. The 19- year-old private first class, an ammunition carrier with Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, died near Huong Hoa, Vietnam, on May 3, 1967. He was survived by his parents and a sister.
